Joel Baumwoll - Managing Partner


Baumwoll has been in the forefront of the worlds of marketing, advertising and research for over two decades.

Since 1984, as Managing Partner of Baumwoll International Consulting and prior to that, Baumwoll & Tannen Associates, he helped to create new product concepts, reposition and extend established brands and create growth strategies for many of the country’s leading corporations and causes.

Prior to founding BIC, Baumwoll was President of Audits & Surveys Inc., a leading worldwide market research company, President and Vice Chairman of Needham Harper & Steers Advertising (now DDBNeedham), Executive Vice President in charge of US media, research and strategic planning for J. Walter Thompson and VP/Research for Grey Advertising.

Joel has provided counsel for multinational companies using the most sophisticated techniques to monitor and evaluate consumer behavior and brand equity, led the creation of advertising for Xerox, Amtrak, Campbell Soup, RCA, Sandoz Pharmaceuticals and Binney & Smith’s Crayola brand, conducted market segmentation and strategic studies for Gillette, Ford, General Foods, Marine Midland Banks and Bristol Myers, designed, conducted and analyzed research studies for Lever Brothers, Lehn & Fink Products Co., and a host of other services and brands.

New products and services that Joel conceived or positioned include Amtrak’s MetroLiner Express Service, Ken’l Ration Kibbles ‘n Bits, Contadina Pastas & Sauces, Ford’s Granada, Fris Vodka Skandia, Xerox’ Memorywriter, Viaje Liqueur and LaVanguardia newspaper from Barcelona, Spain.

Joel’s creative talents were recognized when he was awarded a “CLIO” for an advertising campaign he conceived for his client Amtrak.
